  1. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD A Day in the Life of a Child is a series of nine video programs produced by UNICEF in co-operation with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. In order to survive and grow to become healthy adults several basic needs have to be provided: clean water, food, shelter, health, communication and disaster survival. The program show how these needs are addressed in a variety of ways. VEA(a) Bali . Wayan begins her day by collecting water and cooking rice for the days meals. Shewalks to the market to sell fresh fruit and to buy what is needed to supplement the family meals. The program looks atchanges to the Balinese lifestyle which are occurring with the influx of tourists.

    (b) Ghana. At home Marjorie and Michael help their parents by doing a variety of chores. From an early age children are all taught a trade that can later supplement the family income.

    ( c ) Zimbabwe. Livingstone Manhombo lives in Sekevillage. His family responsibilities include collecting water from the well, tending the cattle and feeding chickens.

    (d) Rwanda. Vincent, Mediatrice, Pascal, Jean Clause,tienne and Mose live with their parents in a mud brick house overlooking a lake in Rwanda. Vincent goes out onto the lake each night with the other fishermen, his sister Mediatrice looks after the younger boys and does the household chores.

    (e) Morocco Aicha is an eight year old Berber girl from Northern Morocco. The day we spend with Aicha is unusual in that today she accompanies her grandmother as a travelling midwife.

    (f) Iraq Dahlia is twelve and attends a special music school in Baghdad. Dahlia’s family home is modern and very comfortable compared with the homes of most childrenin Iraq.

    (g) Nicaragua The program begins with scenes of Nicaraguan children begging and selling cigarettes and papers to motorists. In the village La Iguana, we meet Pedrito Morales, the youngest of twelve children in his family

    (h) Guatemala In this program we see that Lucrezia and Amalia are responsible for collecting water and wood, caring for the donkey and pigs,doing the family washing in the nearby creek and grinding maize to make tortillas.

  2. AQUI SE HABLA ESPANOL The video Aqui se Habla Espanol is designed to assist the teacher and student of Spanish.   3. CELEBRATING LEBARAN The fasting month of Ramadan is an Islamic ritual celebrated by many Indonesians. The culmination of Ramadan is a day of prayer and feasting called "Lebaran" in Indonesia. In this program, we join an Indonesian family living in Australia as they celebrate Lebaran. Discussions about cooking, family conversations and the narration are delivered entirely in Indonesian but because the Islamic religion has Arabic origins, prayers and references from the Koran are in Arabic. 30 mins video Produced in Australia (1996) WW VEA
  4. I’VE BEEN TO BALI TOO This program investigates a side to Indonesia most tourists ignore - its culture.   7. DONE BALI This program looks at the history of Bali, including the commercialisation of its culture, tourism and the impact of Western influences.   8. CHANGING TIMES Australia and Asia In The 90s Australians have traditionally had an uneasy relationship with Asia, marked by a mixture of fascination and fear.   10. JVC Anthology Regional Set Southeast Asia - (5 videos / 1 book)
    This 5-video set illustrates 63 music and dance performances from Southeast Asia.

    Tape 1 includes Vietnamese water puppet play, bamboo flute with ensemble, shawm and drum, xylophone with flat gongs, flute and bamboo tubes, zither ensemble, folk song with dance and folk instrument performance, gong ensemble and festival of the Gialai people. Also Cambodian apsara dance, a dance- drama, folk instrument performance and a wedding ceremony.

    Tapes 4-5 include Indonesia's gamelan, devotional dance, warrior's dance, court dance and seated dance, a men's chorus, shadow puppet play, and several instrument ensembles, featuring bowed lute, plucked zither and narrative recitation. 144-page book describes each performance and enlightens Southeast Asia musical traditions.     A delightful collection of five authentic dances in the Khmer court repertoire, performed in traditional costume by masters of these dances.     Tape 1 includes Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Qatar: Islamic call to worship, military music of the Ottoman, dance of the knives, plucked lute solos and whirling dervishes, hammered dulcimer, Bedouin dances and songs, contemporary Iraqi song, belly dance and traditional mortar pounding and welcoming songs.

    Tape 2 includes Egyptian popular song, Tunisian Bedouin dances and classical music, Moroccan Berber dances, and street musicians of Marrakech, along with classical music and a masked dance from Mali.
