The original "Filmo" was said to be founded way back in 1936 in old Shanghai, China and as it's name suggested the Company's businesses then possibly could be connected with "filmography". After the establishment of the Peoples' Republic of China "Filmo" shifted it's operations to Hong Kong where it expanded and diversified into many "filmographic" related businesses. From Hong Kong "Filmo" moved southwards in 1980s into Singapore and later on Malaysia with Steve Say 史 帝 富 a Singaporean as it's Director and Regional General Manager.

(Steve Say was formerly the Export Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator for a major U. S. based multi-national diversified manufacturing group 3M . He was later hired by SiberHegner a Swiss based multi-national group as their Regional Representative and Marketing Manager based in Singapore. He was one of the key figures responsible for the setting up of then SiberHegner's Swiss Group's Singapore and Malaysian offices. SiberHegner is now part of DKSH.)

As CEO of "Filmo" Steve Say expanded and diversified the company's traditional business activities. Within a period of six years "Filmo" become part of a multi-national group Hutchinson Whampoa and experienced two corporate takeovers Swift / Burns Philp and changed of ownership resulting in the eventual elimination and disappearance of the name "Filmo" as the new owners wanted a group corporate identity.

To conserve the name "Filmo" a completely new company "Filmo Communications Pte. Ltd." was incorporated in Singapore in 1986 and is wholly owned by Steve Say it's Managing Director. The company is a provider of educational resources and educational services . Filmo helps clients to arrange Medical examinations & Lab Tests for Work Passes & Singapore Immigration requirements. Filmo is affiliated with DEVisuals in the USA, an educational media contents publisher & provider. The Company also exclusively promotes IMS Sundays Part time Diploma courses such as Care Giving, Business Management, Civil & Mechanical Engineering Management, Food & Beverage Service, Pastry and Culinary, Call Centre Management & other skills upgrading programmes.
